In 2022 when I walked the El Camino Santiago Norte, I originally planned on continuing the walk through the coast of Portugal, but that plan didn’t work out… so I returned this year to drive the Portugal coast, experiencing the top-rated beautiful beaches in Portugal from Porto to Faro.
Porto, in northwest Portugal is known for world famous port wine, and it’s medieval cobblestoned streets on the riverside, and it’s historic center that is a designated UNISECO World Heritage site.
Of course, I had to experience the number one must do in Porto, which is a scenic boat ride under the famous 6 bridges, and along the lush wine vineyards.
Next was Nazare beach, famous for the biggest waves in the world… although they peak in the winter months, and I was enjoying a very small wave swim during the summer 😊
After staying a couple of nights at Nazare beach, I stopped for a swim at both Praia do Guincho and Sesimbra beaches, then stayed a couple nights at Praia da Rocha.
Next, was a full day of driving while stopping for lunch and a swim at Praia de Marinha beach, Ponte da Arrábida, and da Falesia, before starting a 3-night stay in Faro, on the southernmost tip of Portugal… where I enjoyed Island hopping to different beautiful beaches during the day, and spending the evenings walking through the old city looking for the next quaint restaurant to delight my taste buds.
Each time I visit Portugal, I fall in love with it even more.
THANK YOU PORTUGAL FOR BEING YOU
